Code of Conduct
Expectations of behaviour at LGPro engagements.
The following policy document - Local Government Professionals Inc Code of Conduct – covers behaviour of participants in all Local Government Professionals Inc (“LGPro”) events and programs.
By registering for or participating in an LGPro event or program, you accept the terms of this policy document. This policy applies to engagement attendees, speakers, sponsors, vendors, partners, and volunteers.
LGPro’s commitment safety and inclusion
LGPro is committed to offering a positive and safe environment for all attendees at its engagements. This Code of Conduct aims to create the best experience possible for all attendees in safe, inclusive spaces where participants’ differences are respected. Adhering to this Code of Conduct helps to foster this culture of inclusivity, and participants are advised to review the terms of this Code of Conduct before participating in any LGPro engagement.
Code of Conduct
LGPro seeks to provide engagements free of all forms of harassment, bullying, and discrimination, including vilification, so that everyone feels welcome to participate. LGPro expects all interactions to be professional, inclusive, accepting, and respectful. It is a participant’s right to be treated with dignity and respect, and this policy aims to ensure that all participants are treated as individuals, respected for their unique attributes, and not excluded, harassed, or bullied in any way.
Participants at LGPro engagements must:
- Refrain from all forms of harassment or demeaning.
- Refrain from discrimination on the basis of (but not limited to) gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race and ethnicity, and religious status.
- Refrain from the use of sexual language and imagery.
- Exercise consideration and respect in speech and actions.
- Attempt collaboration before conflict.• Alert LGPro staff or representatives if they notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct of any kind. If staff or representatives cannot be found or to report a violation after an engagement, participants are asked to contact info@lgpro.com.
Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from LGPro engagements without a refund at the discretion of the organisers. Participants asked to stop any offending behaviour(s) are expected to comply immediately.
Conduct at specific engagements
The following additional clauses apply to particular venues and engagements in addition to the provisions noted prior.
LGPro Head Office
When attending an engagement at the LGPro Head Office, participants must stay within the designated event area and not enter any rooms or other facilities unless they have been clearly identified as part of the engagement. LGPro employees may be working in non-event spaces, so participants are asked to respect these spaces and their work while visiting.
Special Interest Group Meetings
Online forums are provided as part of participation in LGPro Special Interest Groups to enable communication and peer support. These forums are unmoderated, professional engagements, subject to the following additional conduct clauses.
Participants in Special Interest Group Meetings must not:
- Use profanity or inappropriate language.
- Post illegal material.
- Post material that is offensive or purposefully disrespectful of individual members of the community, especially through flaming, baiting, or personal abuse.
- Post spam, which in this instance is defined as content seen to primarily serve the purpose of promoting specific services, products, or websites, either of one’s own or of another party which is not in the best interests of the members of the Special Interest Group and/or to assist them in their daily work.
Contravention of these rules may result in a participant’s subscription or membership being withdrawn.
