About the SIG
This SIG has a strategic focus, including volunteer management and mentoring. It aims to influence volunteering policy and practice through ongoing dialogue with the State Government and appropriate agencies, to address specific volunteering issues and to showcase successful programs. Cross-disciplinary meetings and/or workshops, may be held in partnership with other SIGs, on matters relating to volunteering.
Who Should Attend
Local Government professionals, who are working within, or have responsibility for, the planning and delivery of volunteering activities.
Volunteering Online Forum
This SIG is supported by an online forum. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our forums are just for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow SIG colleagues questions and sharing resources. Agendas, minutes and presentations will also be posted on the forum.

Volunteering Network SIG Convenor, Maddy Dowling, Healthy Ageing Volunteer Coordinator, Community Development, City of Melbourne
I decided to become a Convenor after my first meeting. I am lucky to be part of a very supportive team, where this opportunity is seen as part of my professional development. My motivation to becoming a SIG Convenor is to be part of the broader conversation to what is happening in the volunteering realm. I am new to the volunteering workforce and wanted to immerse myself in all things volunteering. The group has been a great source of support and conversation. My aim is to ensure that all members are getting the most relevant and up to date information required to take back to their Councils as well as further developing external links.
