About the SIG

The longstanding LGPro Rainbow Network Special Interest Group is making a comeback in 2018. With marriage equality now a reality and a stronger focus on diversity in Local Government and our communities, the group aims to focus on the sharing of learnings, experiences and resources related to the LGBTIQ+ community and in particular Rainbow Tick accreditation.

Who Should Attend

Local Government officers who are working in the LGBTIQ+ space, or working on/interested in learning more about Rainbow Tick accreditation for Local Government.

Alex has worked with Glen Eira City Council for the past 10 years and is the Chairperson of the internal LGBTIQ+ representative group. He has a background in Arts/Entertainment, Culture, Community and Economic Development and the not-for-profit sector.

Upcoming Meetings

The first meeting/event for 2018 will be held in March with a focus on Rainbow Tick Accreditation for Local Government and we are very pleased to welcome Penny Pavlou - Stonnington City Council, Pauline Crameri - Val's LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care and Katie Goodrope - Bayside City Council as our special guests.

Penny, Pauline and Katie have a wealth of experience and knowledge and about the Rainbow Tick accreditation process.

LGPro participated in Melbourne’s 2018 Pride March to celebrate and show support to the LGBTIQ 
community. The group marched through Fitzroy Street in St Kilda brandishing rainbow 
jackets, t-shirts, banners 
and flags

Midsumma Pride March 2018 – Sunday 28 January 

LGPro is the member association for all people working in Local Government. We value and celebrate diversity and pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive organisation. As such we would like to participate again in the 2018 Pride March. We do need your support and invite you to join us on Sunday 28 January under the LGPro banner.
