Family, Youth & Children's Services SIG Convenor, Linda Harman, Coordinator Community Engagement Programs, Darebin City Council

I have been attending the Family, Youth and Children's Services Special Interest Group for the last two years and over this time I have gained so much from the experience of colleagues in the group, the calibre and range of presentations and the opportunity to network with others in the sector more broadly. I hope as I co-convene this group with Judy Johnson that we can continue to build on the work that has already been established, provide an environment that we can explore current practice and issues, and together discover ways of improving outcomes for the families, children and youth in our communities.

Family, Youth & Children's Services SIG Convenor, Judy Johnston, Team Leader Quality Assurances, Family Services, Greater Geelong City Council

I have always stepped up to be an active participant during my career across many different committees and organisations that support our field of work. Being involved is how we learn more, make valuable connections with other professionals and demonstrate our commitment to our work. As a Convenor I hope and expect to learn from colleagues across different Councils smarter ways to do our important work. I hope that participanting in the SIG will lead to strong supportive networks and a willingness to share ideas and good practice. I also hope that I can encourage others to share their knowledge and experience, and that SIG members will develop a sense of a shared journey in their work for families, children and youth - that we are in this together, working for a common cause.

Invitations to these meetings are sent to the network via Eventbrite. If you did not receive an invitation and wish to attend please email
