Who Should Attend
Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, Coordinators and Officers working in Local Government who are responsible for consultation and research.
Consultation & Research Online Forum
This SIG is supported by an online forum. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our forums are just for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow SIG colleagues questions and sharing resources. Agendas, minutes and presentations will also be posted on the forum.

Consultation & Research SIG Convenor, Emily Physick, Senior Community Engagement Officer, Nillumbik Shire Council
I became a SIG Convenor hoping that harnessing the skills, knowledge and experience of some of Victoria’s best researchers and consultation experts will help with my plans for world domination! But seriously, the Consultation and Research SIG is full of amazing people and I want to expand this throughout the state so we can continue learning from each other. More and more of each meeting is dedicated to ‘around the table’ because we all get so much from hearing what others are working on, helping to solve a stumbling block and sharing resources, which I love. Last year one of our fantastic members raised the idea of more collaborative projects, particularly in research, when a number of us are all looking for similar information. I’m really looking forward to the possibilities.
Consultation & Research SIG Convenor, Sarah-Jade Chung, Research Officer, Darebin City Council
When the opportunity arose to be a Co-Convenor, I saw this as another opportunity to further my professional relationships and assist with the planning of the SIG. I have been a member of the Consultation & Research SIG for three years and I really enjoy meeting with people for other local Councils who have similar roles and discussing topics that are relevant to our area. As Co-Convenor I hope to facilitate more discussion to support the work that we do, build relationships within the group and hopefully add more knowledge by organising a range of guest speakers to attend our SIG meetings.
