Community Development

About the SIG

This SIG aims to challenge the current positioning and portfolio of community development within Local Government and make it a higher priority on Councils agendas.

Who Should Attend

Managers, Team Leaders, Coordinators and Supervisors working in community development in Local Government.

Community Development Online Forum

This SIG is supported by an online forum. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our forums are just for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow SIG colleagues questions and sharing resources. Agendas, minutes and presentations will also be posted on the forum.

Community Development SIG Convenor, Robert Parker, Business Support Officer, Glen Eira City Council

I aim to improve my leadership and organisational capabilities by being a Convenor for the Community Development SIG. I'm excited to work with a group of professionals from across Victoria and increase my networking skills. I've enjoyed being a part of a SIG that shares the same ambition to implement new and exciting ideas around Community Development. What I hope to achieve for the SIG is a high functioning group that has in depth and meaningful discussions around Community Development. It is my hope that this group can think of new and innovative initiatives that will positively impact the community.
