Biodiversity Planning Network

About the SIG

This SIG is primarily for Local Government staff who implement biodiversity legislation and policies with the aim of assisting in the protection and enhancement of natural values within their municipality and the State. The Biodiversity Planning Network:

  • Discusses emerging issues with the aim of providing advice to policy makers and to advocate for the protection of biodiversity
  • Shares knowledge and experience to improve the implementation and outcomes of legislation and policy (e.g. Native Vegetation Framework, local policy)
  • Provides an ongoing mechanism and forum for communication, consultation and liaison with other government agencies and stakeholders on biodiversity issues
  • Provides opportunities for professional development, peer support and communication

Who Should Attend

Local Government staff who implement biodiversity legislation and policies. The network is restricted to Local Government employees. Invitation only for external attendees.

Biodiversity Planning Network Online Forum

This SIG is supported by an online forum. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our forums are just for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow SIG colleagues questions and sharing resources. Agendas, minutes and presentations will also be posted on the forum.
