Aged & Disability Services

About the SIG

The objective of this SIG is to network, discuss government priorities and provide a forum for information exchange and professional development. Many interesting speakers provide valuable information on a variety of aged care and disability issues.

The Aged & Disability Special Interest Group, in conjunction with the Assessment Officers Special Interest Group hosts the annual Aged & Disability Services Seminar.

Who Should Attend

Managers, coordinators and officers involved in areas relating to aged and disability services including HACC services, assessment, policy and planning, and State and Commonwealth initiatives.

Aged & Disability Online Forum

This SIG is supported by an online forum. We believe that accessing knowledge from individuals who work in a similar environment is invaluable and should never be underestimated. Our forums are just for people working in Local Government and there are many benefits to participating in them. They are a great way to keep in touch in between meetings, by asking your fellow SIG colleagues questions and sharing resources. Agenda, minutes and presentations will also be posted on the forum.

Aged & Disability Services SIG Convenor, Leanne Dalla-Vecchia, Unit Manager - Assessment Services, Moreland City Council

Aged and Disability are undergoing major reforms and I feel these SIG meetings are a great opportunity for us to share experiences, learn from others outside of our own regional meetings. The SIG enables us to meet our colleagues in other regions and enables both metro and rural to come together. My commitment to the importance of these meetings motivated me to become a Convenor of Aged & Disability. I have only attended a couple of meetings previously due to other commitments, but enjoyed meeting others and sharing experiences. What I hope to achieve in the next 12 months is for all members to have a space to share and learn from each other and an avenue for members to keep informed and updated of what is happening in the areas of aged and disability.

Invitations to Meetings
