This workshop is designed to support people working in Local Government who are new, or who have been recently appointed to a role with budget responsibilities. It is also beneficial for people who are working in the sector and who would like to improve their knowledge of Local Government financial planning and reporting.
The workshop runs from 9.30am - 4.30pm and major areas covered in the workshop are:
- Understanding the legislation and officer obligations in regards to the preparation of the key planning and reporting documents
- Learning the key accounting concepts and financial terms
- Undertaking effective budgeting, monitoring, forecasting and reporting
The workshop is delivered by Mark Davies, a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. Mark has worked in a number of roles in Local Government and has also worked with Local Government Victoria in the design, development and implementation of the Local Government Performance Reporting Framework which included major changes to the Local Government Act 1989 and the rewriting of subordinate financial regulations.
