LGPro offers the following awards:

  • Awards for Excellence - 2025 nominations open Wednesday 24 July and will close Monday 1 November 2024
  • Positive Ageing & Wellbeing Awards - 2025 Award nominations open on Monday 15 July and close Monday 21 October 2024. 

  • Community and Integrated Planning Award - 2025 Award nominations will opens Monday 7 October and closes Friday 1 March 2024.
  • Customer Impact Award- 2024 Award nominations to open Monday 4 November and will Friday 1 March 2024.
  • Sally Isaac Memorial Scholarship Fund Award - TBC.

LGPro honours the outstanding work being done in the Victoria Local Government sector through a variety of awards.

Our major Awards for Excellence are held annually to acknowledge exceptional projects, programs and services being offered by Local Government. We also offer specialised awards for specific areas of the sector. Nominations only open to LGPro Council Subscribers.

Awards Nominations, Judging and FAQ

ELIGIBILITY

Nominations will be accepted from both LGPro members and non-members, however at least one nominator must be an LGPro Member. One of the two nominators must be the Council CEO. In the case of a team submission, at least one member of the team must be an LGPro member. Please note that the Awards for Excellence are exclusively open to LGPro Council Subscribers.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Refer to respective award webpages to access a list of questions you will need to answer in the online portal as part of your nomination. The online portal allows you to pause and continue your nomination at any time, but the question outline is provided to help you gather the requisite information ahead of time and simplify the process.

When you begin a nomination, you will be required to create a username and password. This allows you to complete the form in stages or add further information prior to the closing date. When submitting your nomination, all questions must be answered in sequential order to progress.

Up to five high-definition images in JPEG format must be included with a description of each photograph in the relevant space provided in the online application form. These digital photos must be at least 1MB each and no more than 5MB.

A short video (45 seconds) detailing the process undertaken in implementing the nominated initiative must also be submitted. The video will be used to provide the judging panel with more context around your nomination and as such does not have to be a polished production. If qualified as a finalist, you will be given the opportunity to submit a higher quality version that may be played at the Awards ceremony.

JUDGING 

The judging panel will comprise a Local Government Chief Executive Officer or an LGPro Board Member and a Local Government representative. Each judge will individually review all nominations and allocate preferences based on how the submission meets the award criteria. Final scores will be reached through averaging and consensus of the judging panel.  In the event of a tied decision, LGPro will assist with the adjudication. 

Please Note: Specialist awards will be will be received and judged by an independent panel appointed by LGPro. The judging panel’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

JUDGING CRITERIA
The key judging criteria for awards are:
• An innovative approach to delivering the initiative
• Collaboration achieved with stakeholders (both internal and external) during the
implementation process
• Measurable benefits achieved
• An outcome resulting in a significantly improved community outocomes and/or customer experience
• Transferability.
 

WINNER & FINALIST NOTIFICATIONS

FINALISTS 
Finalists will be notified two weeks prior to the designated event where the award ceremony will be held. All award finalists will receive a certificate which will be posted to their Council.

WINNERS 
Winners will be announced at the award ceremony of the designated event. The winning individuals/teams will receive an award in the form of a statuette and a certificate will be posted to their Chief Executive Officer. A feature article on the winning entry will appear in an upcoming edition of LGPro’s Profile magazine. 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to be an LGPro Member to nominate for the award? The LGPro Customer Impact Award is open to both LGPro Individual Members and Non-Members, however at least one nominator must be an LGPro Individual Member. The LGPro Awards for Excellence are only open to LGPro Council Subscribers.

How do the judges decide on the winner?
While they are impressed by good presentation, the judges are seeking substance over presentation.
The judges base their decision on how the entry meets the award criteria.

How is the judging process adjudicated?
There are three judges: either a Chief Executive Officer of a Council or an LGPro Board Member, an officer with a background with relevant experience and an award sponsor representative (if applicable). In the event of a tied decision, LGPro will assist with the adjudication process.

What is the closing date for nominations?
Submission dates are hard and are outlined on respective award webpages. 

When will the winner of the award be announced?
The award winner will be announced at the designated event as outlined on respective award webpages.
